Rebuild New Orleans Now is a grass roots organization to help in the rebuilding efforts of a great American city. It is a not-for-profit (501.c.3) company founded by Judi and Frank Newman of New Orleans, and their daughter and her husband, Kathleen and Jon Libman of New York. Rebuild New Orleans Now is identifying individuals in need of assistance to rebuild their lives and the spirits that were affected by the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. By assisting these individuals, they will be helping to rebuild New Orleans.

Frank and Judi Newman currently live in the French Quarter and have lived in New Orleans for over 50 years. They care very much about their city. While they were fortunate to not incur any loss, they learn daily of other individuals without the insurance, government assistance, or the savings to allow them to fully rebuild their homes or businesses devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Rather than focus on primary issues of food, shelter, and clothing that are being handled by organizations such as the American Red Cross or even the United States Government, Rebuild New Orleans Now will make charitable grants for specific purposes related to rebuilding a home or business.

Contributions will be raised by selling Rebuild New Orleans Now silicon bracelets. These purple bracelets feature the Fleur de Lys symbol on either side of “Rebuild New Orleans Now”. We hope that the bracelets will help build a greater awareness of not only our charity, but of all the efforts required to rebuild New Orleans and its great spirit!

Bracelets can be purchased directly from Rebuild New Orleans Now in packages of 20 for $100 per package. Contributors can then choose to either simply give out their bracelets and help raise more awareness and/or sell their own bracelets to other individuals for a suggested donation of $5. The money the contributors collect can then be consolidated into a check that can be sent to Rebuild New Orleans Now. In this way, we hope to raise initial funds from our contributors, and then have the possibly of matching that amount through the grass roots work of everyone. Our website, www.rebuildneworleansnow.org, will recognize all direct contributors, and keep everyone posted on fundraising efforts. All contributions will be recognized per the requirements of a 501.c.3 not-for-profit company.

The company intends to distribute all its contributions to those in need, as it is a completely volunteer organization. All decisions will be posted on our web site, so that all contributors know exactly who has received money and why. We want this to be a transparent, grass roots endeavor that allows contributors to more intimately connect with their charity and to be sure that their contributions have been well made.
